Q&A With
Courtney Mattern
What do you love about franchising?
Reducing risk for clients. Business ownership is already hard and scary.
What do you love about working with clients?
Them! I want to know their story. What makes them tick? What keeps them up at night? How can I help them? I skip the small talk about the weather and dive right into getting to know them.
Tell us a little about yourself!
I started my career at newspapers, where I learned that authenticity and trust are everything. Eventually, I traded newsrooms for marketing boardrooms, but my love for storytelling never changed. I spent 5 years at Omaha's largest arts nonprofit, Omaha Performing Arts, where I wore all the hats from including copywriter, webmaster, paid specialist and social manager. Most recently, I spent 6 years at Buildertrend, an Omaha construction tech company. I started as a content team of one before taking on content marketing, PR, creative, social, influencer marketing, events and sponsorships. I’ve found that the best brands aren’t built on flashy campaigns or empty promises — they’re built on real people, real stories and real connection.
Favorite sidekick?
Watson from Sherlock Holmes. He takes care of Sherlock and puts up with his zany approach to solving mysteries. If it were set in the modern era, I bet Watson would always make sure Sherlock was getting enough water, eating healthy snacks and keeping his phone charged.
