ORIGINS
Training Mate was born on the shores of Australia, tested on the rugby field and refined in Los Angeles. When our founder, Luke Milton (“Milts”), retired from professional rugby he didn't miss the game, he missed the team, the camaraderie, and the mateship. Frustrated that he couldn't find this replicated anywhere in the fitness community, he decided to create it himself.

Armed only with an idea, a 2,500 sqft space and a speedo, he opened the first studio in West Hollywood in 2013 with a few core principles that have become the guiding light of our company:

- that fitness can be fun
- that coaches don't have to be douchebags
- that anyone can achieve a healthy lifestyle

It turns out Milts hit on something. Members loved the community he created and his studio took off like a rocket. With the dream of “inspiring as many people as possible to fall in love with achieving a healthy lifestyle through the experience of fitness”, Milts decided to expand and opened his Studio City (2015) location followed by Santa Monica (2019) and then he moved to Dallas in 2022 and opened a studio in Highland Park.

When members and friends started to ask Milts if they could open studios and join his social fitness movement, Milts and his partner, Kerry (our CMO), decided it was time to franchise in 2023.

They have now proven the model in California and Texas, with strong performance and validation in their first franchise locations.

Partnering with the right people when considering US expansion was critical for Luke and Kerry. To help them scale their franchise the right way, they brought in Gillian Harper, a franchise professional with proven experience in development with ShelfGenie is USA and Gutter-Vac in Australia.

Next was to find a development partner who could walk alongside them and provide coaching, training and support. This is where Franchise FastLane's CarPool program came in. As the industry's first fully support development coaching program, built on FastLane's proven systems and processes, CarPool provides Gillian and the team with back-office sales support, lead registration and qualifying, development coaching and compliance and FDD assistance.

Training Mate's partnership with CarPool provides candidates and consultants with the best of both worlds - the ability to get to know and work with the founding team directly, while experiencing the same Discovery Process and client service that FastLane provides.
